So what is the Mavic Pro Platinum Drone and what does it have to offer.  Well let me tell you, I really got excited research this drone because it will make a newbie like myself, look like a full production team.

This flying camera can be your own personal drone.  It may be small but had big power and with its built-in intelligence like auto follow and avoiding obstacles, the Mavic Pro Platinum will return back to you by itself.  It gives you 27 minutes flying time and you can use your mobile phone as the controller if you chose.  Plus you can stream live to social media, such as FaceBook.

What is the difference between the Mavic Pro vs Mavic Pro Platinum?

The only and important differences are that the Mavic Pro Platinum has an extended flight time of 30 minutes and an increased hover time of 27 minutes.  It also has 60% aircraft noise reduction.

Can I use a Mavic Pro battery in my Mavic Pro Platinum?

Yes, you can

Brilliant, now some of the questions are out of the way, let’s dig deeper into more of the features on offer.

Flying Further

DJI has developed the OcuSync transmission system.  The OcuSync performs far better than Wi-Fi transmission at all transmission speeds.

OcuSync also uses more effective digital compression and channel transmissions technologies, which allows it to transmit HD video reliably even in environments with strong radio interference.

OcuSync can transmit videos at 720p and 1080p which is equivalent to a 4 to 10 times better quality without static interference.

OcuSync supports wireless connections to many different devices, for example you can connect the DJI Goggles, remote controller, and Mavic wirelessly to OcuSync all at the same time.  You can also add an additional remote so that you can control the Mavic Pro Platinum with two remotes or share first person view (FPV) videos.

Fly By Phone

You can fly just by using your mobile phone.  You can use it as your joy stick and have control over your flight modes as well by just tapping your screen.

When using you mobile phone as the controller you can choose where you want your Mavic Pro Platinum to fly to.  If you tap an area on your phone screen your Mavic will fly to that location and if you tap different area it will then turn and fly to the new location. The other great thing is that if there is anything in the way it will avoid it, so that you can spend your time looking a the view.

Safer, Smarter Batteries

Most drones in the market today do not use intelligent batteries but the Mavic Pro Platinum does and because of this you can spend more time enjoying your drone.

If your Mavic has not been used for an extended period of time, DJI intelligent Flight Battery automatically discharges to 50% charge, keeping it at an optimum charge level for extended battery life.

When used in cold temperatures, the BMS will activate low-temperature protection and will control power output according to the temperature.

This will ensure that they battery will provide adequate propulsion without damage from the cold temperature.

You can now shoot like a Pro

Now you can shoot like a pro automatically with ActiveTrack which uses deep learning, computer vision and advanced autonomous flight strategies to make complex, creative shots as simple as possible with just a tap.

All the hard work has been taken out of shooting a professional look video and the really good thing is that you do not need to have a GPS bracelets, no transmitters.  Mavic is so intelligently trained to detect and recognise many different subjects including people, such as, bike riders, vehicles and animals.

All you have to do is mark you subject and you can create a large variety of shots depending on the mode you are in. You can choose from trace, profile or spotlight, and you can give every scene that you choose to shoot a professional touch.

• Trace = follow behind or in from of your subject and or circle it as it moves.
• Profile = Flying alongside your subject.
• Spotlight = Keep the camera trained on your subject while you fly almost anywhere.

Your drone will recognise you and your gestures by putting into Gesture mode.  Raise your arms and or wave to it and your Mavic will follow you or take selfies. With the Gesture mode all you need is your gesture so there is no need for your phone and or your controllers.

You can now Shoot, Edit and Share

Now this is really amazing along with time saving.  You can now stream live to your FaceBook or YouTube so no one misses out.

Automatic video editing templates, simple video editing functions, and easy photo and video management, brings together everything that you will need to make an epic video right on your phone.

Two Sets of Sensors, so You get Twice the Reliability

Flight control systems are critical to stable flight and they need data from different sensors on the Mavic to function.

• Stability of the propulsion system: The Mavic will only fly when its motors and propellers are normal and intact, and the battery is sufficiently charged.
• Stability of flight attitude: Flight attitude is controlled by the flight controller.  Any errors in attitude could have serious consequences including crashes.

DJI have many years’ experience in drone development and have carried out extensive tests and this is why the Mavic has two sets of sensors working simultaneously.  Whenever they system detects an inconsistency in one, it switches to the other, keeping your flight steady and reliable.
